The foundation stone for the first school building was laid on April 5, 1612. It was based on designs by the Electorate of the Palatinate master builder Jacob Thomann and the master builder Jacob Stupan. August Rumpff, a master builder, could not complete and inaugurate the structure until February 21, 1665, during the reign of Count Friedrich Casimir (1641/1642-1685), as a result of Philipp Ludwig II's early death and the Thirty Years' War. However, since the furnishing of the building dragged on until August 18, 1680, a second inauguration ceremony was ultimately held.  It was located on what is now Freiheitsplatz, roughly where the trade union building stands today.
The building was three stories high and constructed of rubble stone. Each story had a central corridor with five or six classrooms. There was an auditorium on the first floor. The building was accessed via two staircases at the portal. The only decoration of the building was a Renaissance portal from 1664 with the alliance coat of arms of Count Friedrich Casimir and his wife, Countess Sibylle Christine of Anhalt-Dessau. The portal is still preserved today and stands on the site of today's Hola. [4]
On May 24, 1911, a fire destroyed the roof structure, and a flat emergency roof replaced it. During the Second World War, the building was destroyed by the air raid on Hanau on March 19, 1945, except for parts of the outer walls, which were later demolished.
