(2015-2018)

Khirbet Qeiyafa has been one of the most debatable and polarizing archaeological sites in Israel in the last decade. Its position in the Elah Valley, its dating to the early 10th century BCE and the existence of two city gates, has led some to suggest that Khirbet Qeiyafa is the Biblical city of Sha’arayim that was mentioned in the famous battle between David and Goliath. It has also been argued that Khirbet Qeiyafa was a Judean city built by King David as a part of the Kingdom of Judah.
